This is the correct and accurate order of what should be painted first to get the finished final look.
1. Ceiling
Use the double arm frame roller to paint the ceilings before you even touch the walls. Painting top to bottom is and will always be the best practice of painting any space. Once that’s done, you won’t have to worry about dripping paint on the wall or trim.
2. Crown Molding
Not every space has a crown molding, but if you do, paint that next. Similar to painting the trims, crown molding should be completed with utmost care. Remember to always fix the flaws, cracks or nail holes before you start painting. Wait for it to dry out and then move on to the next step.
3. The walls
Next, prepare the walls, prime it and then apply at least two coats of paint. At this stage, you don’t have to worry about getting paint on the trims. As you move on, that can always be fixed. When doing the final coat of paint, make sure the brush strokes are all angled in the same direction.
4. The Skirting boards or the baseboards
Use semi-gloss or high-gloss finish to create perfection while painting the baseboards. You’ll need a bristle brush to paint the baseboards. Make sure the paint on your walls are dried out and then tape out the trims and walls before you get started.
5. The Window and Door Frames
Before you get to this step, make sure to fix all the flaws on your window and door frames. Remove all nails, caulk all the edges and sand down the rough spots. Once everything is done, you are well on your way to paint the window and door frames.
6. The doors
Spice up the look of your space and create a finished look by painting the doors. Use a sash brush and a mini roller to complete this task. Don’t forget to look for colours that blend well with your space.
